Also, most machines did not have the .Net framework installed, and back then it was 20 MB download which was gonna take ~2 hours on dial up back in the day vs MSVMVM6.dll which was on all Windows versions from 98 until 7 at least.

Microsoft stopped supporting it. VB 6 was the last "true" Visual Basic. The .Net Visual Basic was not backwards compatible with the very large code base projects everyone had created over the years and ones on forums and websites

Meanwhile, Windows is still shipping MSVBVM6.dll and the IE-4-compatible OCX files for compatibility with apps made using mid-1990s APIs.

Interesting how they'll react to X. WeChat seems to be the closest thing to an "Everything App" that Elon wants to create.

It won't. People use Twitter because of its free speech rules and this is very unlikely to give the same degree of freedom to the "conservatives".

They're no longer trying to be subtle at all. Movies have become stuffed with outright political lectures, and always coming from the same view. I just want a movie being itself without politics shoved into it.

Because Apple is not selling an "OS", it's selling an iPhone. Their users are using "apps" and not "programs".

The difference between Windows XP SP2 in 2008 and Windows 95 is much bigger than Windows 7 and Windows 11. By 2008 nothing mainstream was supporting Windows 95 at all.
