Waiting may not be “unwise” but acting now may be optimal. Even though tooling may be much better in 12 months, if it can improve quality or time now, that’s a net benefit. Bikers in the Tour de France used to not wear helmets. They were se

I understand the underlying quote but not how/why it’s being used here. How is Google giving Gemini away for free to undercut OAI irrational? Anticompetitive, maybe.

Yes, all those things. Except on cost, at least in SF, MUNI is free for children. We mostly drive wherever we need to go, especially when it's all of us. But if we're going to a Warriors game, we always take Muni, at it's mor

Many years ago Apple reduced their pricing on many of these apps. They also made their OS updates free. Apple wants its customers to buy/subscribe to these tools so that you’re in the Apple ecosystem and buy more hardware and services.

Failed pretty badly but no reported injuries or even accidents so not that badly. And if you’re Waymo, it’s a short-term reputation hit but great experience to learn from and improve.

From my understanding your retelling of history is a minority view. For instance, it is in conflict with Wikipedia. It’s commonly accepted that Mossadegh was thrown out by a coup and that Khomenei seized power through a revolution.

I believe that the GPA calculation is off, maybe just for F's. I scrolled to the bottom of the hall of fame/shame and saw that entry #1505 and 3 F's and a D, with an average grade of D+ (1.46). No grade better than a D should

I got an Hermes (plastic?) strap as a gift and it’s way better than any other strap I’ve ever had. Plastic and steel still look brand new. Is it worth 10-20X the price of a normal strap? No, but it’s called disposable income for a reason.
