San Francisco (all of CA) has very low property taxes compared to non-CA cities. Because of Prop 13, property taxes are limited to 1% of the purchase price of the home (appraised values can change a max of 2%/yr). As a result, my neigh

I take it back. I don’t know any Nobel winners directly but know a few one degree of separation out (Physics, Econ, and two Biology), and the people I know who worked with them all said good things about them. However, go down a notch to ju

It seems as if compassion and empathy are orthogonal to brilliance. I hear enough stories that fall on both ends of the spectrum (tech founders appear to lean asshole, but amongst Nobel prize winners, I feel it's more balanced) that I

It’s kind of the opposite of that. Almost all of the value in music comes at the “head”. Something like 80% of the value is in the top 100K tracks and 95%+ in the top 1M. 100K tracks are added each week but most don’t have any commercial va

Additional context: it wasn’t until 2015 that Walmart raised its minimum wage from the federal minimum to $9/hr. It’s now $12.

Amazon has significantly increased wages. They were at the forefront of the $15 wage, more than double the federal minimum wage. I think at the time Walmart was at $10 or $11. I live in very liberal SF but outside of my bubble, I hear peo

I downloaded the file and looked at the second 000 in his file, which refers to wixsite.com. It appears that wixsite.com isn't valid but www.wixsite.com is, and redirects to wix.com. It's misleading to say that the sites are dead.
