How can it be that so many people accept this kind of oversimplified thinking as valuable? Most processes in humans are pretty complex. The processes in between humans at times even more so. It does not make sense to model these processes

No need to be so harsh. I am just positing one problem with OBEs. The burden of proof is completely on people who believe in the existence of OBEs, because it physically does not make any sense to have them.

From personal experience, I have some proof that dreams are not similar to plain eyesight, and are probably produced somewhere else in my brain. In a dream, I saw a friend. The images in the dream were very vivid, and I could have easily m

I don't really understand your remark. Perhaps you (wrongly) assume that I do not like WFH? Rest assured that it is only the article, the statistics presented, and the title under which it was submitted, that I do not like.

It would be great if we could simply flag an article with the tag "useless statistics". What does it even mean to measure a 4% increase in output per minute ? Does that include the time spent fiddling with the microphone at the

You could use the same argument for the two World Wars in the 20th century.

It is indeed quite a stretch to see how this could affect world population in the next few years, but I have read about people going through crazier developments over the course of a lifetime. One example scenario would require some narciss

A thing with Out-of-Body-Experiences is that if you were able to shift outside of your body, then why would you still be constrained to the body of the earth? If you were able to roam around free of physics, then certainly you would leave n

What is the track record of demographers predicting 75 years into the future? I guess these models assume that neither human cloning nor interstellar space travel will take off in this century. Models in 1923 probably didn't expect an

The thinking starts with the beer, then progresses towards one entity, then backpedals because one needs a second to offset against, and from two comes three, and we have come full circle. I see a similar pattern in the advent of abstract a

This is probably due to a built-in preference in our minds for something we later started calling Occam's razor. Obviously there must have been something that started it all, and if there were n+1 things at some time, there might have

PNG decoding is little more than an implementation of DEFLATE and handling of the delta encoding. For your own OS you most likely do not have to be feature complete. As an example, picoPNG [1] decodes most .png images, and is only ~500 li
