Yeah totally agree, I see so many systems perform badly only to find out they're using an older generation mode and simply updating to the current mode fixes many of their issues.

I definitely would not recommend llama models, they were mostly outdated by the time they released, but the likes of Qwen, deepseek etc are much more useful.

All these hyped up doom titles are homogenising our thoughts. There's some truth to this but it's much more nuanced than presented here.

This is a bit confusing, I sort of expected it to be a bit like Kiln https://github.com/Kiln-AI/Kiln to generate datasets for AI, but it looks like the outputs are more just data / files than datasets?

I've got to say when I come across an open source project and realise it's in rust I flinch a bit know how incredibly slow the build process is. It's certainly been one of the deterrents to learning it.

RTX is nice, but it's memory limited and requires to have a full desktop machine to run it in. I'd take slower inference (as long as it's not less than 15tk/s) for more memory any day!

I really like LM Studio but their license / terms of use are very hostile. You're in breach if you use it for anything work related - so just be careful folks!

A lot of discourse about Microsoft that paints them in a less than positive light gets downvoted without reason, I read a blog post a while back about their "brand reputation farm" that follows social media posts and tries to de-r

Microsoft just did a rug pull by introducing dramatically reduced rate limits on copilot requests for paying customers too. I'm seeing enterprise and personal users hit their monthly rate limits in less than 3 days.

I'd argue that a huge portion of the working population have for a long time exhibited an inability to think - probably in part due to the meaningless, widget churning work they're tasked with - I don't think that'll cha

Ah well that's not as bad I guess, I saw in their readme they're recommending people use 3.10, which when I see it is often a bit of a red flag that the project in question may not be well maintained, but I agree I do see quite a

This reads like it was written to make it sound a lot more complicated than the security failings actually are. Microsoft have been doing a poor job of security and privacy - but a great job of making their failings sound like no one could

Good, I mean docker as an open source project was a good step up from LXC, but docker as a VC funded pivot to try and make money from their electron desktop app was in dire need of replacement and Colima just didn't cut it.
