The gloss of Slack was lost to me when they took down the irc and xmpp bridges. I really liked the freedom to do it my way. Then it became just another crappy messaging app.

The stage is git's killer feature to me. I'm very iterative, so I tend to change a lot of tangential things as I narrow down the best implementation of my code. Knowing that I'm free to change whatever I want and only commit

Just means I can't use it for work, since it turns a 1 line change into a several hundred line commit (all our code has single quotes). These 'opinionated' formatters are great as long as you agree with the opinions they have

Personally, I find this kind of tutorial very helpful. Minimal prose, straightforward code, and lots of comments.

I'm just an amateur plan9 user, but one thing it does is allow the application to be written as if it were just a local application. But because everything is just a file, you can have the application use remote resources just by chang

I just installed Windows again for the first time in 20 years (certain games still won’t run on anything else) and after all the talk of how much things have improved, I was shocked at just had bad it is. It’s almost dystopian how tracked a

There’s also a stock audio sound for police radio chatter that is the same as the one in SimCity 2000. Every time I hear that (which is too often) I can’t help but think “well, you cheaped out on sound design"

As someone who benefited personally from Encircle, I’m glad to see them get support. And, maybe more important, recognition on a large stage so that more people can be aware of the work they do.

Yeah, it works on macOS and is actually very nice, but its package catalog is not quite as comprehensive and OS upgrades are a huge headache. In other words, a solid alternative with a different set of issues.

I had an “ah-ha” moment when someone compared the mouse in Acme to vim command mode, and the keyboard to edit mode. Now sam…that’s an editor I just can’t figure out how to be productive in.

The actual film has a director's commentary after the credits that digs into the technical details quite a bit. It may have more of what you're looking for.

I'd love to grow some around my house (just for kicks), but apparently the climate in Utah is not good for holly bushes. My brother lives in Texas, maybe I'll see if he can find some.

So much condescension for an opinion. What exactly have you apointed yourself to teach me? The original parent asked for an opinion, and I gave it. Perhaps hyperbolic, but also concise in its description. It would not be “informative” for m

Ugh. I hate Lindt. It's like eating a battery. Look for an Endangered Species Panther bar. They're in almost every grocery store around here (I can only assume they're popular), 88% cacao, and much less bitter/harsh.
