That's what I don't get about these arguments in support of text editing on iOS. The mouse isn't bound to the physical dimensions of the screen. It also doesn't require you to put it atop/obscure the screen to work,

Living on the SW corner of Lake Erie, I have access to the rawest water of all, with it ripening every July-August. For any intetested in the effects raw water can have on your health, I'd be happy to price-match against SmartWater at

I bet they won't. I think there is a (or maybe a few) soecial and proprietary Panic libraries that they include across their applications. Open sourcing Transmit iOS would also mean open sourcing part of their other conmercial applicat

Agreed on that! The iOS RDP app is pretty darn good, and VPN connectivity options are really good too. BUT... I discovered that if I RDP into my work machine/network, it totally negates the need for both Coda and Transmit on my local i

Transmit/Mac when it's discounted is definitely worth it IMO. $45 is a little steep, but Transmit performs really well, especially when you have a lot of little files to move.

Both. I had a first gen iPad Pro for about a year before I gave it to my parents to use for their travels. The keyboard cover was super handy (I highly recommend it), and I admit that there are some cases where I could have gotten away with

I hate to admit it, but I have both Transmit and Coda for iOS and I never use them. I've never really used them. I know a lot of care went into making these applications, so I don't want to say it was a waste of money, but I just

I use an ad-blocker and have since 2011. To get around broken/hidden content, I just copy/paste the link into Terminal after $lynx. Works almost every time.

More will be coming, and I won't stop until Classic Finder reaches parity with the original. Thanks for giving it a try! :)

Yes, I love the feedback! This is a great list! I _completely_ forgot about the saved positioning of the windows. I'm definitely going to keep working on this and fleshing it out. I'll be using your feedback as a guide! Thanks! :)

Thanks! :) I think that it would probably build mostly fine on GNUStep or Cocoatron. It's not dependent on any of the macOS UI controls - since all of them are drawn from scratch. And the APIs this is calling into... they've been

Thanks! And yes, getting window resizing is on my list! I have a new appreciation for how tricky it is to get even some of the most basic controls and their functions right. Basic scrolling and scrollbars felt like a hurculean achievement.

Ahh yes. There's nothing really groundbreaking in there (in terms of API usage), so I should probably be able to set the build to an earlier version. ... let me see! :)

I have been working on creating a replica of the classic MacOS Finder in Cocoa/Objective-C. After about two years of hacking and doodling, I have finally gotten it to a point where I think it's worth showing. Hope you all like it!

I second that. Edge is fast and efficient, in my experience. But when I use it, it crashes just a little too often. I've never been a Chrome or Google kind of a guy, so I was actually using Edge instead until FF57 was released. I think

What this post is lamenting is the loss of some actor like MECC. We had great software written for students (not adults) at one point. Many of us here have used it and fondly remember it. Titles like Oregon Trail, Reader Rabbit, etc... Unfo

I've taken that same guess after the new fancy effects and animations for iMessage got fully implemented in iOS 10 and barely supported at all in macOS Messages. It seemed like an afterthought on the Mac.

Interestingly, Messages.app on macOS actually is a webview (well, the chat log portion of the window).

I mean, they did break iOS platform rules and pulled some tricks to keep the app open in the background all of the time by sending an empty audio beffer to the phone for "playback." So yes, really.
