My point is to say where does it end? What about the devs of BitTorrent/uTorrent? "Everybody knows that these two programs are mostly used for piracy". How about the whole p2p concept? "Everybody knows p2p means pirate 2

If they can argue that because mega upload can be used for copyright infringement so people need to go to jail then so do the devs of ytdl, WeTransfer, YouTube, Google drive/chrome, etc. etc. etc.

Don't get me wrong, a great PM is a godsend but few and far between. Unfortunately, a bad PM has a big negative impact to a team. > The problem just gets worse when you hire fresh grads or people with 1-2 years of consulting experie

"any chance"??? I can't square this circle of someone being paranoid about postinstall script but at the same time thinks the first chance to review dependency code is after doing a `npm i`. Check the git repo of the library

Malicious unchecked code in postinstall can just be moved to runtime so blanket blocking postinstall is as effective a solution to supply chain attacks as the solution of blocking npm packages with the word "keygen" in them is to

The Big Con[0] book touches on this subject. Essentially, non technical people who want to insert themselves into technical projects account for many of the new PMs we see, at least in consulting, nowadays. [0] https://marianamaz

I reject any premise that free/reasonable programmatic access is dichotomous to profitability. Just as Devs are forced to resolve bugs in their code, business people should sort out the bugs in their balance sheet. These decisions are

True. This is only going to get worse unless technical people in these companies put a foot down. Maintainers do not have the resources to pay for a legal defence (companies know this), the community has shiny-object-syndrome and so it'

Whatsapp is more used than SMS and all other apps combined. Is SMS controlled by one company? Whatsapp made Meta almost a billion dollars last year. Yet they're out here sending legal threats to OSS devs and devs of 3rd party clients.

I think it's also fair to discuss how some of the people who support the BJP and are part of the RSS export their fascist beliefs to places like UK, Canada, USA. These people are actively disturbing decades-long inter-community peace.

There's no need to ask how others feel about your code. You don't need to pass some purity test to share your code in a way you're comfortable with. You don't need to live up to some zeitgeist idea of what OSS is or foll
