This looks intriguing. Thanks for sharing it. That said, I'm having trouble figuring out what it is. :-) I think the challenge may be that it's multiple things: a way to generate some code, a way to create databases, a way to run automated

I'm interested in the "white-labeled Kickstarter" style approach. As I recall, app.net did the same thing. Are there services out there that help do this?

This looks very similar to my startup's product, Site44: www.site44.com. I'm not sure I follow the connection to "mobile," though. Some of the examples (like a static blog or landing page) don't sound at all specific to mobile. Can someone

I like the idea of a T-shirt with a FizzBuzz solution on it. That said, the code on this shirt isn't actually a correct solution to FizzBuzz. Even ignoring the extra lines of output ("##is divisible by X," with a missing space), on numbers

Congrats on shipping! To make it easier for people to check out the landing pages, I've hosted them at http://bootstraplanding.site44.com .

The request looks wrong. Normally you should see a host header of "news.ycombinator.com" and a URL of "/". I.e., it should read "GET / HTTP/1.1".

Thanks for the explanation! I would suggest telling users this during signup (right before they auth). Word of warning to everyone: when you request an invite, there's a pre-checked checkbox labeled "Follow @branch to find out about the bes

Branch seems to want write access to my Twitter account, even just to "request an invite." Does anyone know why? It looks intriguing, but I'm not ready to trust it to that degree.

Doesn't Mongrel2 operate this way? The front-end handles the open connections, and the backend can choose to send data to any connection. (I have no first-hand experience with Mongrel2, so someone correct me if I'm wrong.) It does seem to m

Who are you talking about? The article posted here is about why we do need files, as is the article this is a reaction to (the filepicker.io post).

Where is the bug report? I'd be curious to read the response from Microsoft. (The link on the page is just to a Google Group discussion, which doesn't appear to have participation from Microsoft.)

Thanks for the tips, and thanks for helping to spread the word. Yes, it makes us very sad that you can't share app folders. Dropbox tells us it's an implementation limitation that's not likely to change soon. :-( An alternative for us would

I have to say, my startup has struggled with this. We're a two-man shop, and neither of us buys phone apps, pays for virtual goods, clicks on ads, etc. It tends to make us think that other people don't do those things either, despite the ov

Not very. I believe drag/drop file upload doesn't work in IE at all . See here for the browser support for a very nice file upload component: https://github.com/blueimp/jQuery-File-Upload/wiki/Browser-s... .

"Let users host web sites out of their public folder!" Dropbox is awesome as a publishing mechanism for static websites, but public folders were never an ideal host. (Ugly URLs, no default document, etc.) My startup, site44.com, was built

Disclaimer: I'm a founder of Site44. Like some of the commenters here, I looked around for simple static website hosting when I was trying to find a new home for my blog. I considered Heroku, GitHub Pages, and S3. Heroku didn't seem particu
