There are a few topics on StackOverflow where this gets answered. The short answer: Toolbar is using the "elevation" property, which only Lollipop and above support natively. A simple solution is to manually add the shadow as a dr

Major deals website. We deploy once a week. Merging changes to the release branch takes 1-2 hours (depending on how many conflicts there are), the build itself takes 10-20 minutes. Black-box testing takes about a day (2-5 QA working on it).

I don't mind slow programmers, or programmers who know when a problem is too difficult for them, or programmers who ask too many questions and need constant confirmation and hand-holding. They are a bit annoying, granted, but harmless,

Not to mention the crazy price structure of MacBook Pros. The 13 inch model with a 128GB SSD is $1299, but if you want 256GB, you have to shell out $200 more. I don't think this price difference is justified just by SSD prices. Is this

So it sounds like the founders had already told your boss that he needs to reduce headcount, and you solved the problem for him, and also enabled him to do you a favor. Nice!

In 2014, I made a grand total of $3,700 (mostly ad revenue, some in-app purchases to remove ads) for my vocabulary training app WordPic, and Sapphire Smash, a hexagon-based match 3 game. Both are only available on Android and Amazon. I also

I've been using Mint.com since 2008, and just the other day I contemplated how astonishingly little it has changed since then. The "Investments" section is still as unusable as it was back then (personalcapital.com is running

So you're saying that having a job is "slavery lite"? Why not just call it "employment"? You're free to become your own boss and avoid all these downsides (something I'm working on too, by the way).

Slavery is when people are being treated as property. They are not free to go where they please, and are typically not compensated for their labor except for food and accommodation. So I don't really see how your quote relates to slave

Recruiters scour websites like LinkedIn and email anyone who remotely seems to have relevant skills or experience. Don't read too much into it. In the interviewing process, you'll have the same odds of getting an offer as if you a

Do acqui-hires go through the same rigorous hiring process as regular hires at Google? I wonder how many engineers that are hired as part of an acquisition would actually pass the infamously hard interviewing process at Google.
