It seems this link should be mentioned in the email the OP got.

Do you have any sources for your claim? The original claim - i.e. developers lost money for each refund - is backed not only by the original post, but also by several other sources linked in the comments.

The company did not deny it. To the contrary, the owner of CureVac, Dietmar Hopp, publicly confirmed the request.

Yes. We are all paying the DWD through taxes. The DWD provides its data to private companies for free, including WetterOnline, the company that sued. All the companies do is providing apps and web sites for visualization of the data. I thin

There's a column called "Lng" that shows an abbreviation of the language.

Just as a curiosity, Redis Labs is offering a hosted Memcached service, so they are a cloud provider profiting from open-source software they did not significantly contribute to. Just saying. (More seriously, I think the only mistake they

I just learned that SQLite doesn't accept any patches, so the argument that Git is the industry standard doesn't matter to them, and they just use what they prefer.

The list of reasons not to use Git seems as smug as it is uninformed. > With Git, it is very difficult to find the successors (decendents) of a check-in. "git log --children" and "git log --reverse" are very difficult

The two differences I meant to highlight are that (a) this is only a claim, while your comment represents it as a fact and (b) even the claim doesn't state they were asked to "stop all recruiting of Asian and white males", on

I think the title is misleading. The recruiter was fired for a bad satisfaction score, and only _claims_ he was fired for other reasons. The title makes this sound like a fact.

That's decidedly not what happened, and not even what the plaintiff claims. The plaintiff claims that one manager asked to only consider "historically underrepresented" groups for low-level positions for a while, which Googl

RPM-based distros make up maybe 10 % of the Linux installations these days, so we should not overstate RedHat's influence.

As someone neutral about the subject, my summary of the discussion looks a bit different. stouset claimed that there is no practical advantage of using SHA-3 over SHA-512/256. He gave three main arguments: 1. SHA-3 is slower. 2. SHA-

From the Wikipedia article: "A kit car should not be confused with a 'hand built' car or 'special' car, which is typically built from scratch by an individual."

This is definitely untrue. I've worked at Google, and salaries were shared internally very much in the open. The official response was something like "we discourage sharing your salary because we think it's bad for the work

I get that you can do this in response to a system call (the one issued in step 1). You could avoid blocking in Linux as well using madvice() and mincore(), as pointed out in the comments to the article. However, once you get an actual pag

You might be able to do that in response to a system call asking whether a memory page is available, but not in response to a page fault. A page fault occurs if the process tries to access a virtual memory page that's not currently map

What else can you do other than blocking until the page has been loaded? How would it be possible to resume a single-threaded process while the memory it's trying to access is not available?

I used C99 for the computing kernel of one standalone project (simulation of gravitational lensing). Apart from this, it was mostly C++.

In C99, you can use the "restrict" keyword to tell the compiler an array is not aliased, and even without restrict it's often possible to get the same optimisations in C or C++. When I was still doing HPC in academia, all ou
