When I've needed to send mail from C, I just call a CLI mail user agent like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mailx , and configure it to talk to a local MTA (traditionally sendmail), which buffers messages locally before sending them to a rea

Maybe it's just a coincidence, but all 4 positive comments were by accounts created in the last month and have little history. pg: if you're listening, were two or more posted from the same IP? And frankly, they sound a little spammy. Who s

It sounds crazy, but as someone who reads a lot of fiction (and very little fan fiction, because most of it's crap), I sincerely think this is one of the best things I've read in years. I'd personally rank it up with Asimov or Heinlein at

A startup without a business plan isn't a business. It's just some code. I disagree. Users make it a business - and users don't care if I have a business plan. They just care if the product (i.e., code) makes their lives better.

I've refused (and I'm flying again tomorrow and plan to refuse again if asked). You get a, rather invasive, pat down. But, if everyone refuses, it will cost them enough time that they should have to stop.

This is a really good explanation I saw a while back of the phenomenon. This debunker (a PhD @ Google) originally said it was impossible - and then realized he was wrong. Initial claim of impossibility: http://scienceblogs.com/goodmath/200

If you were right, then someone else will realize there's cheap/good labor available, and poach him at $3x. Then, someone else will steal him at $4x. And so on, until he's making close to what the American dev makes. Tech hiring is extreme

In a competitive labor market, a dev should be paid close to the marginal value they generate. And I should generate close to the same value wherever I'm working. (with, maybe, a 20-30% premium for working local do to increased efficiencies

Yep - there just isn't enough information to jump to any conclusion. I personally know girls who have been assaulted at parties, and girls who have grossly exaggerated or comletely made up accusations. No way of knowing which this is yet ..

How is it clear to any 'right thinking person what happened'? Until there is corroborating evidence (witness, confession, etc) I see no reason to believe anything about events that took place. It seems incredibly dangerous and irresponsib

Most smart people I know got a 'good' (say, better than ~1400ish) score on the SAT. I can't tell the difference between someone I work with who got a 1450 and a 1550 though (unless they tell me, of course).

I've heard it used by strategy consultants to mean someone who is well rounded and performs well in many roles/disciplines, instead of someone with a narrow focus/expertise.

IIRC, it's closer to 10-15% of harvard grads go into finance. If you expand that to include 'business', 'management', and 'consulting' it's something more like 30-40%. Still no where near what you claim.

There are enough market participants that the difference between N and N-1 is negligible. Do you really think you're at much of an advantage if you 'only' have to sort through 9,999 people screaming at the top of their lungs instead of 10,0
