I think it's worth noting that this article and thread has created a space where inclusion and pacifism are being over-valued (and a lot of pitying and white-knight behavior is supported). There's nothing intrinsically wrong with

Of course they do. Nobody is saying you don't have a RIGHT to condemn and criticize. The discussion is around whether you SHOULD be criticizing a person.

It's happening all around you to Trump supporters. And, it has been happening for all of time, basically. Most people, by nature, revel in being superior to others. And, when there's a moral high ground to take (justified by bei

Though it may be "like" fraud, lying to the public/media is not criminal. So, if that's the charge, she should not be in jail. Perhaps she misrepresented facts to investors, but that seems extremely hard to prove to a c

In practice, it is largely true due to the WARN act which requires 60 day notice. No employee wants to keep around employees who know they're being let go, so in most cases, this means 60 days severence.

Genuinely curious. What law do you think she personally broke? Lying to the media/public, though largely unethical, doesn't strike me as being illegal. Piling back-breaking stress on an employee also doesn't strike me as ill

This is sort of my point... Don't get me wrong, he has every right to run his business in any way he so desires. And, who am I to pass judgement on him for this? I'm just saying that we shouldn't see this sort of decision ma

I find it interesting that there's a general undertone that CL is being "honorable" by choosing to not make more profit. I have no doubt Craig's intentions were honorable, but in reality, his refusal to make money to fun

Noone is arguing that women "should" play more chess, where "should" holds any moral or ethical imperative. They're simply saying that the chess community would find greater enjoyment in the sport if more women play

I'm not sure if this will get any response, but figured I'd pose the question since I'm giving it serious thought. Has anyone considered renunciating their US citizenship? Do you have practical advice on how to go about doing

It's a marketplace. There's no "should" to transactions. As a buyer, you have no right to dictate what gets sold. There "should" be no imperative that the seller is beholden to. If the business wants to sell

I disagree that the original commenter is a likely cynic. I think the most likely belief set here is that it's possible for any poor person to escape poverty through hard work and tenacity. This belief (though arguably incorrect) is s

I find this comment extremely distasteful. Who are you to "shame" another person? He's justified to his own opinion and even if his opinion is damaging, he wasn't trying to force it on anyone else. He asked two questi

I think this shift towards early liquidity is really good for 2 reasons: 1) Society benefits when people work on what they love and do best. Founders, with rare exception, are best at innovating and building new things -- not running large

The fact that the disadvantage is faced by everyone doesn't really have anything to do with whether or not we should accept a standard. Saying "this is how the world is" is obviously also not valid... Keep in mind that the d

Thinking about this more, maybe the solution is not to detach self-esteem from skill mastery, but to find a better yardstick to measure skill mastery than our peers' skill level. Given that all skills are used to achieve an objective,

That's fair. It's not fair if advertisers are impacted differently. But, my main point is Facebook has a lot more to lose than gain by inflating clicks/views, so it's very likely to be an honest mistake.

Assuming that click fraud is pervasive across all advertisers, the fact that it exists should have no bearing on your ROI as an advertiser. FBX is a RTB ad exchange. If only 10% of clicks are real, you simply bid 10% less than you would ot

I've spent millions on FBX. Unless I'm missing something, Facebook has nothing to gain and a lot to lose from "artificially inflating" views. FBX is an ad EXCHANGE where inventory gets sold to the highest bidder. If FB

As a founder of a series C startup, I agree that common stock options in startups are grossly over-valued right now. Based on my experience, the median offer for 1st engineers at an early stage startup is around $100K + 1%, vested over 4 ye
