HTML typically just works, even for users on powerful hardware accessing non-essential services. You don't have to worry about some modal warping out of the screen, or having your scrollbar hijacked.

I think this is describing early adopters who consistently chose products that eventually fail. Perhaps there is another subgroup of early adopters who consistently choose new products that eventually persist, “harbingers of success.”

The only time Taibbi brought up government intervention in the article was to oppose it. Specifically he criticized a new bill that would "require that political ads or content produced by foreign governments be marked by disclaimers,

The piece is written in the past tense in the tone of a history written years after this hypothetical collapse. It recasts relatively recent and innocuous business news as obvious in hindsight precursors to the collapse.

It would be awesome if operating systems had super-powered file type detection, to the point where you could double click a “ancient” file format and it would download the correct “ancient” program and run it in the correct emulator transpa

It has been a mostly steady trend since 1960 at 29% to now where it is at 52%. All of your examples of young adults choosing to live with their parents are because of COVID-19, which can only account for the 5% increase since February 2020,
