Not just in game development. If you have a function that is only called once, it shouldn't be a function yet. Make it a function when you have a second or third use for it. Then, and only then, you will know what the parameters should

Until reading your comment, I didn't know that was what Antifa was short for. That's probably why they don't use the full name.

Giving money directly to businesses (especially hedge funds and banks) is a mistake which will have terrible consequences. If we need stimulus to stave off a debt deflation spirals we should give money directly to people. It could be struct

It seems like you're suggesting mainstream news sources are somehow different? Personally I prefer the explicit bias of individuals on Twitter, than the implicit bias of mainstream news sources.

Or, from another perspective, what makes one think that forced confinement and ostracisation does not qualify as sufficient "consequences"? In a fundamental sense, this is the greatest punishment that can be given to a human being

Brilliant! I've been wanting to do something like this because of how disappointing the commercial options are. Any chance you could share your design details? Even something as simple as a GitHub repo with a Readme and any design file

This is an interesting approach, but I suspect it won't work as intended. After reading "How to Have Impossible Conversations" (which was recommended by someone on HN a few weeks back), I've come to understand that the t

It seems like the blog post answers your question pretty thoroughly. The Hyperdrive index and the protocol are tuned for this use case, making it scale to being able to host a Wikipedia clone. BitTorrent FS + SQlite are not tuned for this u

One person's rights/freedoms are another person's responsibility. There can be no freedom without responsibility. Regulation is legally enforced responsibility.

Perhaps I should have said there is no evidence that I am aware of that supports that viewpoint. Instead, there is evidence that asymptomatic people can transmit the virus. No symptoms does not mean no virus.

Due to NDA, I can't talk about specifics, but a fab is basically a bunch of small chemical plants in the same (giant) room. There are all sorts of dangerous chemicals in use, but there are multiple layers of safety equipment and protoc

There are multiple lines of evidence that suggest airborne transmission is the primary form of transmission. For example: https://twitter.com/JeremyKonyndyk/status/125372588101882675...

I worked at Intel in a fab for 2 years. The culture is extremely safety conscious, if not safety obsessed. The moto is Safety, Quality, Output, in that order. In my experience, Intel strives to create an environment in which workers are saf

Gotcha. That still seems a bit low for where I live, assuming 18% efficient panels. Roughly 5kW.hr/m^2 averaged over the year, so 5000/24*0.18 = 37.5 W/m^2. And of course solar thermal in the desert can do quite a bit better
