Is the back plate on that metal or plastic? It's the metal back that is bending and then staying bent, while plastic will bend and then return back.

Seems like a case would only help if it was made of metal.

The iPhone 6+ is thinner and longer than the iPhone 5, so it makes a lot of sense it would be more prone to bending due to physics.

It's not really plastic vs. metal, it's plastic vs. aluminum. Steel would be a much better choice for strength, it's just heavy.

The soft-touch plastic used on Lightning cables has the amazing property that stress failures look just like the cable was chewed on. Not even joking. It basically disintegrates and falls apart.

It's a deprecated standard as of 2007, so I'm not sure what can be done by the standards body to stop people using it.

For Target, the selling didn't come until after Target announced it was going to impact their earnings.

Target stock was fine until they put out this press release that updated guidance lower due to reduced sales after the announcement: http://investors.target.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=65828&p=irol-new...

It's mainly up due to a good earnings report in August, and good guidance going forward. If the breach doesn't hurt earnings, why should the stock price move?

Wonder how IBM feels about this development. From May: "IBM will cease operating Global Expense Reporting Solutions as a standalone product, effective March 31, 2016, and instead will refer customers to Concur." http://

I kind of feel like an expense reporting system is like an iceberg: the end-user UI is just the tip that is visible. Like here are things that you don't see as a user: * Data feeds from various providers, each with their own formats. *

Similar issues when people post scans of mail they get, and don't realize the barcode encodes the same info that the stuff they redacted had.

From this CBS case, you can see that even a large company with bottomless legal pockets can lose a ridiculous patent case. Who's to say that Carolla would have won?

It was also a VERY expensive tour to put on. Nine days to setup and tear down each stop, with hundreds of workers and dozens of track trailer trucks. Setup video: http://vimeo.com/24796838

Yeah, another way to game the system is to include your album with concert ticket sales. That counts as a sale officially, but you probably aren't losing many "real" sales since your fans probably have the album already.

I'm surprised none of these break-out Kickstarters have sold their product to an established consumer products company, who would handle the Kickstarter fulfillment and then sell the product at retail Because it's pretty clear tha

If you zoom in, it gets lighter. That's unexpected, and seems to be an error in their averaging code. Maybe it's not averaging using HSV but in RGB?

Yeah, colors are hard. Compare the full saturation red they are using for Asian to the baby blue for White. The red stands out more than the blue, even though they are both supposed to represent one person.

OTOH, iOS 7 did a fine job of almost entirely removing bitmaps from iOS in advance of these new screens. So developers are in a lot better shape now than if they had to redraw all their skeumorphic assets at 3x.

I think it's fine to create an artificial battery benchmark to compare watches, but unless that is representative of actual use, it shouldn't be used as the "real battery life" or anything.
