Think about it the other way, if they reject a candidate for asking, it's their way of saying "The PTO situation is terrible here".

Inspiring story if you don't already work "in cloud" but as someone with a decade of experience, it somehow has an opposite effect on me. This story highlights how un-glamorous our job can be: tracking down (memory) leaks, fi

Tesla is not that different from any consumer device company: Priority #1 is shareholder value and they have nothing to gain by making repair easy. In fact, by making things easy/cheap to fix they are going to loose a ton of revenue. B

I agree that good engineers can learn most tech fast, and that that is due to experience and not them being inherently smarter than others. If this is true though, how do you measure (non specific) experience? Maybe asking for 100 relativel

Ok, I think I just understood the problem. The following would cause a problem: s0 := append([]string{}, "zoo") sa := append(s0, "foo") sb := append(s0, "bar") // overwrites sa[1] Go is

Go-s behavior is the ONLY sensible one in _any_ language that supports pointers. This is a faster and safe(er) way. You simply cannot modify (move or reallocate) a data-structure that has pointers pointing to it without invalidating all poi

My takeaway from this article is "Big Oil" should have invested their billions in research on renewables, batteries, etc, instead of lawyers and fighting change. If you have a short-term-great, but long-term-dying business (which

I never understood the market for Balena Etcher. You can use the standard unix 'dd' tool to copy images to sdcards and usb-drives. You can literally `dd if=whatever.iso of=/dev/rdisk3` (or whatever your disk id is). I ha

This is not a 'static' optimization. It relies on knowledge that the compiler cannot decide by looking at the code (whether the linked list is _mostly_ laid out continuously). It might still be a very useful optimization in a JIT
