Customizing your editor to do what you want doesn't miss the point. It is the point. If my editor does exactly what I want, I have no need of Coda or Sublime Text 2 or Eclipse or whatever. You can turn off colors. That's your customization

It sounds like you want vim features. But vi compatibility mode is probably not consistent with these. Mapping f-keys should work fine in a GUI vim, but in a terminal F-keys may depend on configuring the terminal. You don't have to use synt

If you want USPTO to very thoroughly vet all incoming patents, then you will have to fund them a great deal more to employ a lot of skilled people to handle all that footwork.

I don't see why people out in the country are any less likely to be part of a mob, or why their vote should be worth something around 10 times what an "urban" person's vote is.

If success isn't a matter of luck, it also isn't a sign of natural superiority over those who are less successful, or the great universal ease of becoming successful. I don't say this to be bitter, but let's have a little empathy with the m

It isn't even all that necessary to be good. Even if you are mediocre or somewhat bad, a combination of connections and hustle can get you really far. I think many of us have seen examples of this, particularly in the context of startup boo

This somewhat undercuts your point. If I know someone I am not nearly as likely to ignore their email, evaluate their idea superficially or assume the worst. What is the use of having contact information when you can't actually get heard? I

People also use the phrase "premature optimization" to make a perfectly accurate observation about eager, costly optimizations which may be obviated by changes or have no meaningful relationship to any business need. Is there really any goo

Downvoting notwithstanding, the statement that 1 and 0 ARE True and False is flat false. It's not even kind of true: True is not 1 and False is not 0, the type of True and False is not int, and the established convention for comparing to t

What's REALLY annoying is websites where lots of layout has loaded, and no text (or only some of the text) shows pending a font load which could take seconds. This doesn't look "fast," it looks janky.
