The linked post notes that, even on a default Windows install, you already have a sizable stack of filter drivers active. Not sure whether that only applies to the C: volume or to other ones as well.

Badly discoverable? Sure. You can vastly improve the remembering part by picking appropriate mnemonics. The Plan 9 keyboard file is a nice start, I think. It follows a set of rules so you don't have to remember a large number of sequen

There are no legal challenges and there is no hurry. You wouldn't be able to call the fork Fedora but other than that it's absolutely impossible for any shady backroom deal to affect your future ability of forking Fedora. The lice

It doesn't have anything to do with implementation details, even though the weird set of rules from the article implies that. Dump those rules for a much simpler insight: When comparing interfaces, type and value must match to compar

The behaviour of append and the conditions where it will allocate a new backing array are specified and part of the language. Implementation details don't even enter the picture here. You can absolutely rely on that not changing.

This only does what you want if you mush everything together into a single translation unit. Otherwise, you will get duplicate definitions for everything in onefilelib.c.

This doesn't help in their case. To get a caching node located in rural Uganda (so they don't have to max out their slow sat link), they'd have to negotiate a solution with each major CDN service. Before widespread HTTPS, the

I disagree that GOPATH is only appropriate for monolithic repos. I think it works nicely with distributed open source development and has some nice properties there that are lacking in "project-based" approaches. It's true th

That explains the memcmp: I just declared it locally before calling it. I think it's not incorrect to do as long as my declaration exactly matches the actual libc one (otherwise, the behaviour is undefined). Not 100% sure, though.

Memmove is frequently cited as an example of a standard library function that can't be implemented using only standard C. It's incorrect, though: the way to do memmove using standard C is to use malloc to allocate a temporary buff
