I get this too. However, I can say that it's not just Indians. There are quite a few people from all backgrounds who have questionable skill levels from prestigious schools and/or who have masters degrees. I've given enough i

I don't remember if GTA V had this same feature as GTA IV, but I remember being impressed in GTA IV by the cell phone interference through the radio when you had an incoming call and the radio was playing. I just absolutely loved the a

I'm not sure why, but that comment gave me a few chills.. I think that comment was made about 9 months before he got caught[1]. I imagined he was already running the site if not developing Silk Road 2.0 at that time. I'm unsure if

They might not be a huge contender in the smart phone market, but are tablets not considered "mobile"? I agree, it might've been more appropriate to not generalize with saying they solved mobile and instead point out a partic

You'll have to excuse my ignorance as I just like to lightly follow the JS web dev community and am no way a JS expert, but what is the reasoning behind the React spin-offs? There's Inferno, Preact, ivi, and possibly more, but are

Interesting to note: The Andreessen-Zuckerberg friendship goes a bit deeper. Andreessen's wife, Laura Arrillaga, advised Zuckerberg and his wife on making the $100MM gift to education in New Jersey. Now that Zuckerberg would like to se

I think what makes Giphy so popular is its integrations with Slack and Facebook. However, the Giphy Slack integration is really awful. Should be renamed to gif roulette or something. RightGIF Slack integration is a lot more accurate. I&#x

I'm in agreement that I wouldn't necessarily choose XMPP for Twitter but under different reasons. There is literally nothing holding back the XMPP protocol from saving and publishing messages to the public viewing. XMPP is the eXt

Partially. Part of the XMPP protocol is establishing presence which I don't think is a requirement for Twitter (I wouldn't know, I don't use Twitter). Establishing presence for XMPP usually means a constantly connected client

I'm not sure I fully understand this comment. What does it mean to have an "XMPP backend" but not as the interface? And yes, they did use a full, open source XMPP solution for Facebook chat when it started out called "ej

XMPP is simply a publisher/subscriber architecture. So you can just have a "global" publisher that any user subscribes to when they get on the service (registered user or not) for public viewing. The protocol isn't limit

If you've been there for 10 years, then the taxes on those options will murder you if you choose to exercise now. I think ideally, that you incrementally exercise over the period of time of your stay. Bigger risk since you won't b

Not guaranteed. If you exercise your options at company X, say $20 per share, left company X, and company Y buys company X for $10 per share, then you just lost money. I imagine this is pretty rare but it's possible for a company to ac

Hi, I'm an engineer at IMVU. We use this for almost everything! Status updates is a pretty simple example but we constantly invalidate data for things such as user's list of friends, credit balance, and our real-time chat.
