Can you comment on when/why you might use IntelliJ/VS over VSCode? I've recently switched to VSCode from vim, and haven't really used full IDEs since college (except for small amounts of mobile app development).

The devices don't persist groups across reboot, so if they power-cycle (which can happen if they update), you have to regroup everything.

It'd be interesting to hear why you'd like 4-6 years. I'm not judging your preference or response, really just curious.

Ooo, I want to layer on the thockin love! When I was fresh out of college in 2006 Tim and his team (then the BIOS team at Google) were the friendliest, geniusyiest, most patient group a new grad could hope for. Thanks for the mentorship Tim

I'm glad the hard fork happened, because it makes clear and public that there is no "coding around" the possibility of human oversight. Better for that to happen early than late IMO. And people sure still seem to be onboard.

The browser is ad-free and tracker-free by default and they've stated a few times that it will remain so. Business concerns aside, it really does significantly improve my mobile browsing experience (I'm using it on iOS).

Not a single comment here actually addresses the content of the article. Just pointing that out.

I don't think I can comment on that! Sorry. Someone who is working on storage at Google today would have a better idea of what's public vs not.

At Google my colleague developed a simple test that made vibration effects very obvious (this was in 2008). In a server with a bunch of disks, do random reads or writes on all but one disk. On the final disk, do sequential reads. Back then

Who gets to decide which laws are ok to break? What do you think of medical marijuana users in the US (still 100% illegal at the federal level)?

Would you mind explaining the shift change in more detail? Did the employer hire more in order to lower everyone's hours below the overtime limit?

There are some very thoughtful comments in response to the parent, and I'm not degrading them. I just want to say in addition to an upvote that yours is more than just thoughtful. Thank you.

The article says over and over again it's a toy. Young people, 14-25 are going to buy these and make them cool. Not the 35 year old engineers who bought Google Glass. Google has never made something cool. Snapchat was cool out of the g

Yes, so if you have a uniform distribution of nodes and gateways over space, a node's nearest gateway gets closer as network density increases.
