Ron Drever also missed out on the Nobel prize for the discovery of gravitational waves by about 6 months [1]. [1] https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-39212305

Could you show some example CSS for your alternative suggestion by any chance? I'm not quite sure what you mean about using flexbox this way.

This is the case in some fields, particularly life sciences where it's very difficult to reproduce results, but in others it's not important at all. I have colleagues who have to have their labbook pages signed by the group leader

Over the past few years I've developed a WordPress plugin that provides most (all, I think) of what you want [1]. I also a while back did a comparison of some other softwares' pros and cons [2]. At my work we've used my syste

A high frequency (MHz, table top) detector is being built in Cardiff. I can try to look up some more details later. Source: am in the LIGO Scientific Collaboration. EDIT: I couldn't find anything published yet. It's still a work i

FreeCAD definitely does not have the full feature set and is still quite rough around the edges but it is improving at a remarkable pace. You still have to deal with some silly things like multiple workbenches for the same thing, lack of de

Yeah, I don't get it either. I don't really want anything provided by the software on the watch, just the hardware, and I'll do the rest. I realise my use-case is in the 0.005%, but when companies can ship tens of millions

I looked into it but watches, like phones, fall into the category of things that really do just need built by a company with tiny unsolderable-by-humans parts. When I checked maybe a year ago I found a fitness tracker that someone had found

Is it possible to download the data from the watch without an iDevice?

What I dream of is a health monitor watch that's built from open hardware and gives me complete control over and ownership of my data. I don't trust any profit-driven company, even Apple, with such private information. EDIT: thank

It was working earlier - the title said "Apple Event" when I clicked on it and it took me here: https://www.apple.com/apple-events/event-stream/ . Looks like the title and URL was edited later.

What sort of control methodologies were you using for the autopilot? Classic linear negative feedback or more modern techniques? How much of the autopilot problem was novel? Could you use existing designs from other aircraft or do these ten

I expect there would have to be other changes to allow this feature, such as the server advertising all the available/supported hashes for each chunk.

SHA1 has a collision, so now it uses SHA256. How long until a SHA256 collision? Shouldn't the new protocol just add support for many modern hash functions, and client updates can disable support for hashes that become insecure later? O

I think the EU are still being very lenient with companies right now to give them time to adjust their practices. I'm looking forward to when they (hopefully) start to hand out fines.

Wow, thanks for the link. Morbidly fascinating to hear it happen in real time. Looks like there was a huge lack of clarity during the whole thing - I bet this spurred big changes in the way ATC, towers and military interact.

Wow, I would have sworn it was a GNU project if someone had asked. It just seems so typical of a GNU project: free, open source, around for as long as I can remember, available on every Linux but with a dated look and feel.

I use this to host a small WordPress blog on my server whenever I want to make changes that I then compile into static HTML for public access. Works well enough and avoids the need to lock down a public WordPress instance.

Ah, that reminds me of an article someone here linked to a few years ago: [1]. That claims the efficiency is -3.5 dB compared to a typical -1.25 dB dipole in dedicated wireless equipment. Not bad; the difference is only a factor of ~2 in po

Why not a very good one? In terms of range (with the PCB antenna)? Or does the Pi firmware not support some modern 802.11 standards or what?
