The point of the article wasn't so much to bash the feature as it was to show off an impressively sophisticated hack.

C99 can link to programs written in ANSI-C just fine. The issue is with trying to compile the latter on a compiler written for the former. This will always be an issue when dealing with a language as entrenched as C: Most of your user-base

I was curious how type-generic macros can be implemented in C, so I looked up an explanation of how it's done in glibc. It's quite fascinating (despite being an unholy abomination): http://carolina.mff.cuni.cz/~trmac/blog/2005/the-ugliest-

I'm going with the majority opinion on this. It's perfectly fine for you to look up my past work relationships for people you know and trust for an objective opinion of my skills - but you damn well better let me know and get my permissions

This. Half my kingdom for this feature. One of the biggest problems I have with Google search at the moment is when I need to look up specific functions or symbol names. If I'm looking for documentation on g_find_str, the LAST thing I need

Doesn't the usage of the Pirate Bay logo still constitute copyright infringement, though? This story just oozes irony.

I was also wondering about this. A few people here commented that this is obviously a move by the execs to claw back as much stock as possible for themselves before the IPO in order to ditch it and run. On one level, this sounds realistic.

A psychopath as defined by Hare will never kill for you. At least, not in the sense you mean by "kill", which is probably "go to extreme lengths". They quite likely would kill for you, under the right circumstance - but only if it served th

This confuses (and infuriates) a lot of native Israelis too. This is more the result of pressure by orthodox interest groups and attempts to maintain status quo. Just another in a long and confusing list of factors shaping the Israeli and m

I've seen a lot of posts about US telecoms having "soft caps" for usage on what they call "unlimited data" plans, and I can't for the life of me figure out how in the hell something like that can possibly be legal. If you have a written ser

All due respect, you could've chosen a better source for your bit of history than an article that uses a book by the name "The Homeopathic Revolution: Why Famous People and Cultural Heroes Choose Homeopathy" as its only source.
