ZeroMQ has never been a managed queue. It was always more of a networking library on top of which you could implement some interesting paradigms, but it has never been on the same playing field as MQs (on purpose). SQS is still very much al

If you believe Hetzner is a “cloud” platform like AWS, just because they offer VPSs and some form of block storage, you might want to explore beyond the EC2 section of your AWS console.

Migadu doesn’t have automated quotas. They are understanding and they won’t block your account because of one bad actor. Even if you go over the limits, they won’t say anything unless it becomes a regular pattern. I host email for quite a f

Why does a single company have to be better? Fastmail or Migadu for mail, Kagi for search. I still use YT on a semi regular basis. Just because you’re used to using their products and it’s convenient to use them doesn’t mean there aren’t va

I sort of like the physicality. There’s something satisfying about using a physical device for a communicator. One issue is privacy and security. Does it just broadcast messages after someone hits play? That’s not awesome in an open space.

One aspect of Slack/email is that it is searchable and async. If your team has good culture and uses channels as opposed to group DMs (a very, very big issue in Teams), it allows others who were not online at the time to catch up on wh

GDPR doesn’t mean you follow “new EU rules”. It just means you only store the data you need, you track how the data is used, and you allow data subjects the possibility to modify/remove said data.

I’ve had nVidia stock for the better part of the last decade. By far my best performer. Whenever articles saying “here’s why it isn’t a bubble” start popping up, I tend to really start considering dropping a stock.

While it’s a nice write-up, I’m not sure I’m following some of the sweeping conclusions the author makes regarding security and purpose. > JWT Tokens > Cons: Susceptible to token theft (e.g., XSS attacks) if not handled carefully. Mus

As someone who lost one of their best friends to schizophrenia, I can guarantee you it that in his case it was a terminal illness. It was an ugly, dirty battle he slowly lost over the course of the 15 or so years he was diagnosed with it, a

The same is true with reading out text messages. I’ve disabled it for CarPlay now after receiving a mildly raunchy text with a car full of colleagues. It’s still useful on the headphones though.

It’s sometimes awesome, and often extremely basic. “Contact sent you a picture of a group of people at an airport”. Amazing. “Contact sent you a screenshot of a social media post”. Useless. We know iOS can select text in pictures, so Siri c
