There's a bunch of different situations that can be discussed, and it's hard to generalise. However: Your function typically has a specific intent when it tries to call another function. Say that you have a poorly designed functio

This shouldn’t happen unless you’re actively refactoring the function and introducing new error paths. Therefore, it is to be expected that the cake hierarchy would be affected. You would most likely have had to navigate up and down the cal

A Parquet file compactor. I have a client whose data lakes are partitioned by date, and obviously they end up with thousands of files all containing single/dozens/thousands of rows. I’d estimate 30-40% of their S3 bill could be el

I disagree that the status quo is “one error per module or per library”. I create one error type per function/action. I discovered this here on HN after an article I cannot find right now was posted. This means that each function only

Yeah, that was my point, but obviously not very clear. It feels to me like male contraceptive offerings are basically non-existent, and that there is basically no research/innovation in that field because it’s sort of expected that wom

This is actually a crazy important development if the results can be reproduced in larger studies. Hormonal contraceptives are absolutely terrible. None of my long term partners were happy with them—whether it was a hormonal implant, hormon

Whether it’s the latest or not is irrelevant. What’s important is the actual package hash. This is the only way to have fully reproducible builds that are immune to poison-the-well attacks.

In my experience, this is fundamentally untrue. pip-tools has extensive support for recording the explicit version numbers, package hashes and whatnot directly in the requirements.txt based on requirements.in and constraints files. There ar

Do you know where the increased tyre wear comes from? I run a PHEV, and if anything, my tyre wear has improved. This being said, I’ve noticed that many a “big EV” driver will take off from red lights like they’re driving a dragster.
