I lean on this. I have a 95.0.1 on ubuntu and got the problem for about 5 minutes. Killed firefox, waited a while and tried again and it worked. So it's not an update issue. A centralized service somewhere failed. Which is, indeed, sca

I don't think Mozilla's income is a problem. They are making money. The problem is how they spend that money. My impression is that they lost the original spirit. Mozilla lacked a BDFL that would embody that spirit. What's go

Behind async there is a real actual hardware reality. Accessing local storage (or the network) is slow and you do not want to block your UI. You say async were all over the place. Either it makes sense because fundamentally, what you are do

If I where to write a small command line tool utility that needs to be fast, safe and lean I would definitely write it in Rust. It's got the tooling C++ don't (cargo), the ability to statically compile a minimal binary that small

Callback hell was before the introduction of Promises. Promises tried to abstract away the callback mechanism and it made things a little clearer, but you still had the pyramid effect of successive Promises. Await/Async kind of streaml

A couple of strange things: * the use of decorators in even the most basic example * no async/await. You fall back to Promise.{then,resolve}. The example given is not that clear to me. * You can't have two files with the same name

If we are discussing in good faith, the parent was probably talking about lobbying done by moneyed interests. Which is not necessary for democracy, itself a very broad term in its initial definition which does not include think tanks, polit

Love this. Such a simple idea yet very helpful. It probably can't do what all jq does but it will solve most of what you usually want to do with json on the command line. Thanks for that tip!

One of the first rule of written communication for me: never send an email when angry. You can write it as a sort of catharsis but then just delete it and wait a few minutes/hours/days to cool down. You will realize what is import

Stupid question: why not use nginx? Configuring basic auth is about 4 lines of config. Nginx is fairly simple and is overkill only for dev setup for which you don't need auth anyway.

I don't disagree with your point but how a prosecutor must be selected then? If someone is not chosen by a public and popular vote, it must be chosen differently. Any mechanism of choice will have an inherent bias. For example, you cou

I don't think it's about education. It's about bad faith and cynical politicians abusing the justice system to intimidate reporters. There is nothing to be done about it but vote those people out.
