It would be interesting to know the injury/fatality stats for the kind of roads you're describing. If the rates are high (relatively speaking) then I would argue that yes a total conversion to computer controlled driving (when available) is

I'm FAR more frightened of being t-boned by a drunk driver than of big brother taking control of my car. Honestly can't tell if you are trolling or serious.

Honestly, I think inner city scooters don't really factor into this debate. As you mention you pose a limited risk to others and your choice to risk your own well being is exactly that- your choice. 2000kg passenger cars travelling at 60-10

All of this is true.. however you categorically stated that we "will never quite achieve" totally autonomous cars. To me that sounds like a silly statement especially when compared to flying cars (a totally different class of problem). Th

It seems the most knee-jerk reactions always come from bike riders (buy a gun.. really?) :) How about the upside. Every bike rider I've ever talked to bitches about stupid "cage drivers". Imagine if every 4 wheeler was autonomous.. no more

I get that you get pleasure from driving or riding and if it's anything like my experience (in my teens) a good part of it is the danger factor. I drove like a lunatic when I was 16 (just like most other 16 year olds) and it was great fun a

Yes and we will have flying cars. The flying cars argument is silly. Yes it was a fanciful 1950s dream that never made it to reality... however autonomous flight is real.. a good portion of commercial air flight is done under autopilot (i

If you're interested in HTML->PDF without the hoop jumping have a look at princeXML. It's incredibly good.

wow it's great to see the mockup space seeing some real innovtion and competition. I've had my own head down for the last six months working on my own mockup software and I agree that HTML5 is the way to go. Being able to demo a design on a

ahh that's a real shame. I guess the best you can hope for is a change of policy when xp is EOLed. Even if it's just an upgrade to ie8 that would make your life more bearable.

I dont have any experience developing for govt, so for all I know the barrier against installation of CF may be insurmountable. Have you ever tried? It really is extremely painless and would result in a net + in terms of security.

Why not use chrome frame for ie users? If you're building a 'sophisticated web app' then you really are nuts to try to support way back to ie7. Chrome frame takes about 30-45 sec to DL & install. Doesn't require a browser restart and do

Thanks for your insight. I guess as an Aussie I'm used to seeing a slightly different amount (usually within $1) of the quoted USD for a transaction... however maybe US users are different. In any event, I think given that my own business i

If you want to argue the case then you'll need to find better analogies. The employer/employee relationship is entered into mutually and both parties gain from it. Lets really put the shoe on the other foot. How would you feel if someone ca
