i agree with you if you have a transactional SQL it’s usually best to stick to this until it doesn’t scale. it allows you to make the « add message to queue » part of a transaction that update other table which is nice!

Redis is not a database. it doesn’t have proper transaction support. it’s basically a cache with a fancy API so you can incrementally update data structure instead of having to constantly write the whole thing you are trying to cache.

The incentive for researcher working for an university is simply to publish as many paper as possible and get as many citations as possible on those papers. They don’t care if “science“ solve a problem or not they get paid either way.

The database should be able to be configured with a cache device. Using a RAID manager or a filesystem for this does not seem optimal.

if he mean “does not completely prevent you from getting infected” then this is true. All vaccines do not completely prevent infection. But that’s not a reason to stop calling them what they are and start calling them therapeutic :-)

Instead of using TCP connection as the unit of bandwidth, ISP use "Link/circuit". Think of it like configuring a guaranteed minimum bandwidth for a VNET.

basically the « % » symbol in 3% is a fraction notation or it’s a type notation you can overload the add operation like below. Add(int x, Percent y) = x + (y/100)*x
