I disagree. Let's say I want to use a real type-safe language to write web applications. So rails/python/JavaScript/php is out of the window. I'm left with two big options: Java/Kotlin and C#. If I want to avoi

I don't disagree with you. My comment was merely to agree with another commenter who said that there is a catch-22: Rust developers can't find jobs, while companies who are looking for Rust developers can't find candidates, b

The problem is that I still see all crypto as "scam", thus choosing Rust makes a non-viable choice for career progression. But I don't care about career progression anymore, so :shrug.png:

As someone who is using Rust in production for a year now [0], albeit in a different industry -- webdev, I really like the language. Sure, the first steps were rough, but eventually DX became decent, and the safety guarantees of Rust allow

GnuCash is really nice, and eventually it would have been my end game, but at some point numbers didn’t end up. Everything was recorded correctly, but reports would show wrong numbers. After migrating from GnuCash to beancount, I realized t

I had an on off relationship with lifting for the last 12 years. But as I got more busy I became less active. And especially after the first lockdowns, I remember that walking was somewhat hard. And so, after burning out and quitting my job

The fact that you make money using AI, has nothing to do with its usefulness for society/humanity. There are people who are getting “pretty rich” by trafficking humans, or selling drugs. Would you want to live in a society where such a

Astro is amazing! I use it for all my blogs, my personal website, and some of my landing pages (info in about). It’s very easy to build a static website with zero js, or pick the desired framework you want to work with. Pair it with TypeScr

It seems like certain (random?) Hetzner IPs are blocked by some (automatic?) blacklist by Google?/GitLab? Spent a good amount of time debugging Access Denied from a Hetzner server to a GitLab container registry, until finally landed on

I'd rather read a book / listen to a podcast from someone like Rob Walling, then navigate the Twitter feed of endless "welp, someone copied my SaaS" in order to get an occasional gem. I also like his tweets, but it has n

Can agree with the post. I, also, discovered build-in-public and indie hackers communities about 6-8 months ago, after I failed at "build it, and they will come". Since then, I have revived my Twitter/Mastodon/LinkedIn,

AFAIK diesel is not async. On top of that, I'm pretty sure you can find a query that you won't be able to perform with diesel DSL (some obscure PostgreSQL syntax). What I like about sqlx is that it's just pure SQL.
