I've worked all over the place: home, office, small offices, and now I just started working at this startup factory which is essentially a huge open space with dozen of startups sharing the same space: http://luissenlabs.com

The free-market shapes it to be this way. A company as big as Twitter is simply a result of such system. In fact the free market is the opposite of racist/sexist/whatever... it strives entirely on performing the best it can - iron

Nope since paypal is chargeback-able. You can try localbitcoins if you don't want to give out your info.

Slack is free, we use it for free and it's always on. IRCCloud's free service disconnects after 2 hours of inactivity.

Main problem with IRC is that it's not "always on" and I really need this feature. Sure you can use IRCCloud or SSH/Screen into a server, but they both cost money while Slack is free.

Instead of UBI, we need to pressure our governments to heavily regulate how much the free market can destroy the environment and ourselves. Then, that 80%, who is unemployed, will work on making sure the agriculture is healthy, harmless, di

I urge people to support the implementation of DHT feeds [1] in famous BitTorrent clients. The idea being that people can subscribe to specific DHT keys they trust, and publishers can publish at that key (by signing the content). This would

You can only abuse it as long as you have points. With Reddit (or systems like it) you have no limits - for instance, you could upvote all content on the front-page every hour. On the other hand, with this Kudos system, you would run out of

Redux to me is the most exciting part of patterns like Flux. Specifically the idea of immutable state where to change the state you replace the current state with a new object. This allows to do really cool things such as undo/redo of

What could the hacker accomplish even if they were able to execute some code? They're still in a browser tab and you can only do limited things. My thinking is that if the code was somewhat executed on 4chan, they could inject a <sc

There's already a quite large distributed "HTTP" being used everyday: BitTorrent's DHT network. URIs are just the keys of the distributed hash table. Keys are also mutable so one can change the content stored at specific

Not sure what you're talking about. The design looks completely different and they do different things. Juno seems like a code editor with fancy features. This Tonic on the other hand is a repl.

The problem with this is that users have to download a binary of over 40mb just to run a "hello world" app. The whole thing has to embed all of node.js plus all of a browser. I miss the days where to download a crazy complicated a

By the way, if you're aware of any peer-reviewed papers out there that explain how PoS works, I'd be interested in reading them. Academia has been quite shy on the subject.

@kushti I think you might have misunderstood how the consensus protocol works in Bitcoin. It's not the longest chain, but the one with the most work put into it that is accepted.

What do you mean? If I look at the latest block hash and difficulty I can actually measure how much hashing power went into finding such block (and it's a lot). How would you simulate that with timestamps?

There's a proof in Bitcoin's paper that shows the probability of someone catching up with the main chain. That's actual real data that we can measure. Of course nothing's 100% true in the real-world, but with PoW you get
