I think the key question is what is special (if anything) about tracking migraines versus any other event. Have you looked at the many generalized QS (quantified self) applications and SaaS?

Unfortunately this is nothing new. As a small business owner who does work for and with federal, state, and local governments, it's quite sad how often vendors try to take advantage of the system.

Why not use the usual job searching sites with the keyword of "non-profit" - most job descriptions include at least a blurb of the company and non-profits will likely mention their status.

Cool but your biggest challenge will be adoption. If you expect users to be repeat ones, I would consider some sort of browser extension or work with sites to integrate your button on their site much like how twitter/facebook share but

Thanks Zach. Same thing here. If parents would stop and think about (at least my definition of) what a "hacker" is, a maker/creator/doer/free-thinker, I think they would in fact encourage reading the magazine. PS -

Awesome! I do the layout "design" of the magazine and have been for about seven years. Doing something such as that and being able to find it at a Barnes and Noble is very rewarding in a different but similar was as creating a web

It really shouldn't have anything to do with your tech stack being Rails. You can just have some status page site or your own status site (see below) check a certain page/port/endpoint for each of your "usage points"
