Any job not performed by a cat or a boa constrictor in a Richard Scarry book is non-essential.

In the mountain sports community Ibuprofen is jokingly referred to as "Vitamin I". I know a lot of people who take it regularly to push through the soreness of multiple days of physical activity.

Did you read the article you're responding to? It's historical data, which is as literal money in the bank as you can get. What's the point of saying "oh sure, but this is skewed by Amazon/Microsoft TC, base salarie

This is backward looking data. It's what people earned, not some pie-in-the-sky projection of future IPO windfalls.

I don't know why there is always this nitpick. I just take it for granted that when someone talks about tech "salaries" they mean "total comp". Virtually everyone in my peer group makes more than half of their total

Your comment got me interested in where the Jagiellonian University in Krakow (alma mater to Copernicus) placed in these standings which led me to this list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_oldest_universities_in.

I bought a Purple mattress a few years ago. It was debilitatingly uncomfortable. After three nights I gave up and called them for a return. Their customer service spent quite a long time trying to convince me to keep trying: their pitch

I'm not sure what the condescending "uh" is about. All of the brands I listed do have websites so you can trivially confirm their premium shells use Gore-Tex. Here are the ones you tried to fact-check: https://www.

All the A-list mountain brands' top-of-the-line shells are currently made with Gore-Tex. I just did a quick scan and Arc'teryx, Black Diamond, Haglöfs, Marmot, Norrøna, Outdoor Research, Patagonia, and Rab all do. I can't fin

Why is it disingenuous? What if the OP sold and immediately bought another asset that had similarly appreciated? What if they sold, changed their mind, and immediately re-bought the same asset? In both these cases the "made" 25K (

I don't think cooler/trendier is the reason major companies with established long-term offices use WeWork. I spent a few months in a WeWork office - which was more uncomfortable than it was cool or trendy - as an employee of such

This has been beaten to death in other threads related to this over the past several weeks, but the short answer to your question is "by putting money toward infrastructure upgrades instead of toward paying out dividends".

I'm a big fan of Costco, but packaging is one area where I'm not sure how well it works out from an environmental footprint perspective. Buying milk? 3 standard cartons in a big cardboard box. Tomatoes? 4 lbs in a cardboard box wr
