+1 for vimwiki, though I mostly use it for the diary shortcut (<leader>w<leader>w). I also use it in conjunction with gollum, which works nicely (gives search, live editing, etc).

Command line isn't really necessary. I have a similar setup (gollum wiki on Dropbox) and I only need a text editor to edit files, and there's tons of mobile text editors that hook up with Dropbox.

There's also altair[1], which also has a grammar of graphics. Most visualizations need one line of code, and it integrates nicely with pandas: Chart(df).mark_point().encode( x='year', y='horsepower', color

One of the most reasonable rules I've heard IMO for deterring voting districts: > In each section (at first a state, etc), find a dividing line that splits the population in two. This seems somewhat reasonable, and there's no w

At PyCon (not long ago), I saw a talk on hacking NES games and integration with Twilio. The speaker live coded a hacking script for a NES emulator. He was showing off the Twilio API, which allowed the audience to text memory addresses and b

Another grammar of graphics: altair[1]. The altair are simpler and easier to read, i.e. Chart(df).mark_point().encode( x='age', y='height', color='sex') Also, see Jake Vaderplas's talk on

I also use Pandoc to convert markdown to latex. Markdown expressed the content clearest. I've also started generated latex PDFs via the Jupiter notebook. They have a quick and easy preview, plus markdown + latex math + code integration

Twilio is interesting -- for example, take a talk [1] on Twilio about how to have your dog text you selfies. I need to find an application like this for Twilio... [1]: Given by Greg Baughes at PyOhio 2015, http://pyvideo.org/

And this depends on ipywidgets (or at least similar - Syvian Corlayhas developed both). These widgets support embedding in other contexts like static HTML pages or Sphinx docs [1]. An example can be seen on the docs [2] [1]: http:/
