M1 has become such a buzzword. What does M1 competitor even mean? Just an ARM SoC?

The entire situation is dumb.

I’ve considered making a vector sorta thing implemented as a linked list of arrays. Assuming you sized the arrays to fit well inside the CPU cache, are there really many tradeoffs?

> AMD also has a mobile chip with 8 non heterogeneous cores that has around the same TDP as the M1. TDP is no where near actual load power use.

> Unlike what has been said on Twitter the answer to why the M1 is fast isn’t due to technical tricks, but due to Apple throwing a lot of hardware at the problem. Of course Apple’s advantage is not solely due to technical tricks, but nei

Not necessarily. Samsung used to make custom cores that were just as large if not larger than Apple’s (amusingly the first of these was called M1). Unfortunately, Samsung’s cores always performed worse and used significantly more power than

You are making the mistake of equating TDP to actual power draw. The Yoga Slim 7, which uses a 4800U has an average load power of ~50W[0] vs the Mini's load power of ~30W. [0]: https://www.notebookcheck.net/The-Ryzen-7-

None of these new M1 devices will be densely packed. They’re putting smaller boards into the same enclosures. I assume next gen is when they will take advantage of space savings.

There’s a fairly significant performance difference between Apple’s new cores and the Pi 4’s A72s. If you ignore that and the high-end display, touchpad, and keyboard, then I suppose it’s not too far off from a Pi in a fancy case, but then

Wow, this writing sucks. What even is the A78C? The writer implies it’s a processor competing with Qualcomm’s 8cx, but the branding and Arm’s slides point to it being a variant of the A78 core. If that’s the case there should be a chart sho

What graphics backend does this use? I can’t seem to find one listed after a quick search.
