Results from the benchmarks game suggests the performance of the Regex crate and calling PCRE2 from Python are about indistinguishable. The results also suggest CloudFlare could have achieved a 35% improvement using boring technology like t

Maybe I'm just ignorant, but haven't browsers nearly become just a VM for JavaScript? Rendering documents is sometimes incidental. I'm not sure Swing would actually be worse than HTML5.

According to at least one person, not very promising. https://www.hackerfactor.com/blog/index.php?/archives/896-To... About 13 years ago, another researcher identified some suspicious patterns on the network.

When this started in Spring 2019, back when hundreds of github users decided to star this repo, there was actually nothing. Just stub diesel method calls and a JS front end. I think that's what's interesting. Looking at the issues

I remember talking to the author of Lemmy on Matrix before he made the github repo. Perhaps this has changed, but he didn't seem to have any actual plan for federation. The early work in the repo appeared to be a Vue or Angular fronten

You might note that Rust was conceived by Graydon Hoare and now "the community" owns the project, and the creator is no longer involved. Much like Nikolay Kim (who also was a developer of aiohttp for python, a very impressive FOSS
