I’m sure somebody has, but how would you find them? There is a network effect here. I wouldn’t mind spending the $10/month to host, but nobody would look at it. Google is basically worthless for finding anything outside of popular site

Can you make a movie stereotyping and disparaging The protected class Cohen belongs to? Of course not. In many countries, doing so is actually a crime. That’s what’s so objectionable to me.

It thoroughly amuses me that the pinnacle of Sacha Baron Cohen’s career is “pretending” to be an idiot. What a dubious honor.

Case in point, in his book Red Notice, Bill Browder says pretty candidly that he was a poor student, but he was admitted to Stanford because his Grandfather was Chairman of the US Communist Party back in the day. More recently there has bee

The ranking algorithms are just leaking. I’ve noticed an innocuous post today only a minute old already downvoted. “RMS” and “nutcase” were in the post, but not in a derogatory context. Sub-120 second action is an improbable level of attent

Institutions of learning becoming subordinate to a faith-based ideology might be worth reacting to. Lysenkoism probably shouldn’t be repeated.

EFF takes up these causes sometimes, right? This notice is hollow sabre-rattling, so I wouldn’t worry too much. What can RIAA do if somebody forks the project and hosts it in the Lithuania? Not much. Yell into a pillow, maybe.

If Mozilla shut its doors for good and Firefox became abandonware, would not all the donations and volunteer labor look for another browser project, perhaps one with a more principled stance on user privacy? Would that not be a good thing?

Was JuliaCon 2020 remote? That probably has more to do with it. I can’t possibly imagine there are 40X more active users in one year. The niche it serves isn’t particularly large, either.

Of course they hire non-PEs. You can’t get a license without years (at least 4) of experience first. Most consultancies I know of would not hire anyone who couldn’t pass the FE, though.
