"We are giving ourselves cancer by living long enough to develop it" is what the title should have said. This article is the worst form of opinion.

Come over to Australia or New Zealand. Our PSAs tend to be dark and in your face eg http://youtu.be/ZgkwYyPUMsU and http://youtu.be/bvLaTupw-hk

It's hardly a secret. In fact one of the worlds most renowned chefs, Heston Blumenthal, openly describes the practice.

It's only turned out badly when countries tried to leap from agricultural to communism without the capitalist/industrial intermediary stage.

The hard part about this problem is getting the scale and thus volume of the objects right. How big is that bowl holding your cereal?

Shame Connect 4 is really boring. First person to move will always win if they start in the middle column and use perfect play.

Polymer bank notes last two and a half times longer than cotton based ones http://www.bankofcanada.ca/2013/04/publications/press-releas... . They may not be damaged by water but they do get wet which is a pain

Rubbish. They don't melt in a clothes dryer. They're designed to withstand temps of well over 100 degrees Celsius (Ps why do Americans not air dry their clothes?). I've never heard of anything going wrong with the notes here

This. If they really wanted to improve their banknotes they should've gone straight to polymer.

That seems like such a shit way of doing the pole test and introduces too much randomness to be uniform across all cars. The much better way is to keep the car stationary on a moving platform like ANCAP does http://www.ancap.com.

The issues of speed that this article mentions are negated by the latest electronic ticketing systems such as Oyster, Myki and Opal. As you walk on to the bus you touch the card against a reader and that's it. Saves a lot of time.

Fish is too rich? I thought that the consensus was that it is appealing because it is a lighter and healthier alternative to meats such as beef, chicken and pork.

It's not explicitly mentioned in the Torah why shellfish are not kosher. Seems to be tradition rather than anything rational. Camels and pigs are no more toxic to eat than cows.

Is this a karma grab? This was doing the rounds online shortly after it was announced in February. Anyway it seems likely to only affect people who are wealthy enough to have large reserves of cash with nothing happening to it. When you thi

A mistake I made in my excitement. TOF and structured light can both produce shadow regions of the depth map if set up like the previous kinect. What it looks like they have done is to switch the places of the RGB camera and the IR projecto

It definitely does have a higher resolution, an just as importantly it has lower noise because it has switched from structured IR to TOF. It also doesn't seem to suffer from the shadowing issues of the previous version. Kotaku have a great

Actually Shared Matting is far more applicable than KNN Matting. It's designed for real time use and has a post processing step which will help you deal with fine detail like hair. http://www.inf.ufrgs.br/~eslgastal/SharedMatting/

Have a look at KNN Matting http://ihome.ust.hk/~dli/projects/knn/ . Their MATLAB implementation uses a similar style to yours but is not as real time. They take single mouse clicks and spread them over a much larger window/bounding box. On

Clarification. I want LGBT equality including recognised marriages. But thinking about the bigger picture I don't see the point in state "you are in a relationship certificates" and think they should be abolished.
