Doesn't Safari for iPhone come with parental controls? That could be one difference right there.

I like that. I've been using "my.username at gmail" ... fairly close but I might switch to "of". As a bonus it might filter out humans you'd rather not converse with as well.

Changing existing methods is more jarring than adopting an additional method, imo. Others probably disagree.

I think working hard is far more important than being smart or having a natural ability to code. Ok so you may know a lot and pick things up quickly, what do you have to show for it? I learned this lesson personally. I like learning about p

You've missed an entire class of users. Believe it or not there are people who know nothing . Literally. They don't understand that when they save their password it's stored on their disk. They don't understand what a disk is, and they don

"Having our passwords in plaintext is more secure than obfuscating them precisely because, when a user is not misled by a false sense of security, he is likely to use the software in a more secure manner." I'm sorry but this is bullshit. T

I'm sure the people who actually work on webOS do and have looked at the iPhone. It's nice to have a CEO like Jobs with clear vision for a product but I don't think that's the case for the Pre.

Agreed, but even then how many emulators do you want to install? I already have iPhone, webOS (Pre and Pixi), and Android.

It's here alright. Until we can communicate telepathically - via our phones I bet - being able to send instant SMS messages around the globe will have to do. When 3G (or 4G, or the next one) is more accessible to everyone we'll have a whol

Short strings in Python are interned, i.e. 'foo' always returns the same string, not just an identical one. There's some noise but the important part is that both x and y have the same address (0x37e300) and point to the same str object.

If you're a Bad Religion fan then there's not much to think about. I'm always reminded of the song "Ten in 2010" when I hear the new date. Luckily we're not there yet! http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/song/Ten+In+2010+LP+Version/... htt

Would you have tackled it first while trying to build such a library? I'd have started with 6502 or m68k as well. x86 is pretty huge, take a look at the x86 ISA docs sometime. (We're talking 3-5 PDFs at 500+ pages each iirc, but that incl

Pointless graph. Ignores the way people look for info on their language. PHP is well documented so PHP users just go to php.net and know the docs will be there. I like the feel of Python and Ruby more than PHP but you don't have to look

There are a dozen reasons the data would be bogus but I only need to state the most obvious: you can't use the same person in 2 comparable tests because the tasks would be either too trivial or too similar; likewise you cannot use different

It's simply impossible to isolate and control all of the important variables involved in developing any software of any significant size. There's a reason for the lack of productivity data for programming in general.
