This article is an excerpt from the book Turing's Cathedral, which, coincidentally, I'm currently reading. Sometimes I wish it went into a little more technical detail (and I think it's a little too charitable toward von Nue

SIFTs are rotation invariant. However, they are not good for classification. Anyway, the early layers of an NN should be performing an encoding that creates scale and rotation invariance though, so that later layers can classify. That'

I sometimes use "they" when I feel like using a gendered pronoun would distract from the topic at hand. It's incorrect but sometimes it makes sense.

I haven't looked around, but the 10x10mm form factor seems quite small for an A7 product. And they have some shared memory which should be an advantage over a serial interface between two separate processors.

The irony is that it's actually one of the safest (and cheapest) tranquilizers and that's why it's used on large animals. It's hard to weigh a horse, so you want something that doesn't require a very precise dose.

Yeah, just pile on another layer of code you don't understand. And then wonder why it's slow or doesn't work the way you expect.
