If you enable VoiceOver on iOS, you can perform a gesture to enable “screen curtain” which turns off display rendering: a triple-finger triple tap. Great way to test your app for accessibility.

The discerning coin boy will seek a US coin from 1964 or before as the silver content will give it that nice ringing sound when you flip it.

I’ve often thought in life that I’ve learned most of what I know by seeing examples of what not to do. If for no other reason than that there are many more people running around without a clue than truly wise individuals making well-reasone

I wanted to go there because it’s also the greatest/longest eclipse location, but wasn’t sure about what it would be like to travel there. I’m sure it’ll be an incredible place to view it from.

Been loving it for many years. For the 2017 eclipse I was able to narrowly avoid some weather to get a great view. I was using their wind, radar and jet stream visualizations to guess as to where I should go. Maybe I just got lucky ;)

It's pretty obvious that the guidelines state you should treat them as though they're serious. You always have the option of not sending a response. The world will keep turning just fine without wnevets chiming in.

Do you have some alternative in mind? If you don't communicate an idea, you don't even have the chance to agree on it because many people may not even consider it. I really fail to imagine how a society can arrive at a universal e

Well this is just narrow thinking. We'll gain more noise, distractions and busybody managers coming by to interrupt us every 30 minutes to ask for status updates. And also individually wrapped tiny portions of snacks.

I'm surprised as well. I visited Europe almost 25 years ago and they had automated speed cameras. In the US we've had speed limit signs that tell you how fast you're going for a long time now... adding a camera and network co

It seems obvious to me that running red lights has more severe risks than people stopping more abruptly at yellow lights. And since it's not illegal to slow down for a yellow light, but it is to tailgate someone, well... just don'

What will happen is some startup will take VC funds to build the Juicero of printers, all the legacy competition will get squeezed out, and then printer cartridges for the sole remaining new entrant will skyrocket.

You’re comparing someone not caring about others getting into Harvard to someone not caring about people getting lead poisoning from their water. Can we at least agree that not envying others’ higher status is not the same moral ground as n

OK. But the problem here is that people disagree on what Harvard does. That has to be established before we can even work backwards to a purpose, assuming this framework you suggest is even valid, which I separately doubt. My a priori assum

Hardly a solid basis for self-worth. Revenge is living well, you need to get some perspective to realize you already are. Go volunteer at a soup kitchen or habitat for humanity, and don’t forget to actually talk to the people who work those

I like being able to see the graph with my commits lined up on top of the latest main revision. It helps me order my work in my head. There’s probably a bunch of other ways to visualize that, I just haven’t learned them yet.

I see it more like someone asked for a cabinet and hired you, the carpenter, to plane, route, chamfer, mitre, join, hammer, nail, screw and glue the wood into place. You absolutely need to know the right tools and techniques, of which there
