"just not anonymously" Just not depending on anything in the environment either except globals, which is a huge limitation. So writing a function inc by = \x -> x + by becomes unnecessarily difficult for example.

Before laying down any money, I'd recommend heading over to hydrogen audio ( http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/ ) and reading around for a while, or asking questions. As part of their terms of service, they require listening test data to

Not sure how it's "ironic" that a nation state is attempting to act in a self-interested way, in each of these cases. Regardless of the success or wisdom of that action.

If you're going to consider that the author "looses" a sale because of a resold, used physical book (which was the original subject, not ebooks), then you should factor in the losses due to not allowing resales at all - because such books

So did I, but almost none of those programs would be acceptable to deliver today. When hardware is faster and (resource intensive) IDE's and frameworks do more for you, if you don't deliver more for less, you're competition will. How does

I did't downvote, but maybe you can explain what you mean by Ubuntu for Android? They are both OS's, I'd think that Ubuntu would replace Android if you're using Ubuntu, is that what you meant?

I'm not defending the "nobody uses it", it was an overreaching exageration, much like the graphic seeming to claim that IE9 had 54% share.

Not sure you "shot down" anything, your data isn't specific to the version of IE (note the title). I would assume that there's a large fraction on IE 6, 7 and 8 under the umbrella of "Internet Explorer".

I haven't programmed in Coffeescript, but does it bother anyone else that new variables are introduced without "var"? When reading js, seeing the "var" really helps me to know the programmer's intent that this is a new variable being introd

All that happened there is you entered your factors in a strange base (albeit the same one the output humors you with) and then didn't like the appearance of the answer.

I've been away from Haskell for a while, it's great to see interesting things still being done. Wondering what the use of type-level naturals in Haskell is though? I dabbled with Agda a bit where they're used to satisfy the termination ch

For me, code listings are too small on the small Kindles, even when the books are bought from Amazon. Also it's a bit distracting to me to turn the page as often as is required on the small Kindles, which fit much less words per page than

Because nearly every programming language uses \ as an escape, which means in string literals that you have to double escape the \ which is error prone and ugly.

OS X does have a slick interface, but that interface is not very configurable (as opposed to say KDE4). When it works for you, it works well, when it doesn't there's not a lot you can do about it. Also there's more and better and easier ac

I think types are orthogonal to why named parameters are helpful, because parameters don't just indicate a type but a particular usage of a type. So for example, in a bank transfer method the named parameter would help distinguish the from-

I doubt studies really show any such thing. They probably showed that when fiber is rare in a residential area, it may add $10K to a house value. When it becomes common, it won't.
