Thanks for posting this. I hope this format is useful to you guys. I actually spent the last two days making a video of this, with screen recordings of using Anki and such, and then felt it's a lot more efficient to just get the info on a

Check out Kevin Kelly's great book, “What Technology Wants”. He really got to know some Amish communities and has some fascinating thoughts on how their approach to technology is a good role model. He adds the twist that many of us should

Yep. You're right. It was supposed to be a light-hearted and fun point, delivered with a smile. I guess that didn't come across. My fault, again. :-)

Agreed! But most everything I write about will be in the past. I'm a slow learner. I figure my current experiences are not very valuable to others. It's only valuable once I've learned something sharable from it, and that usually only happe

Ha! Good call. Yes, you're right. I have a natural tendency to prefer to be remote, anyway. But yeah my current situation, amplified by being in a very central social city like Singapore, really amplified it. Thanks for bringing this up.

P.S. to my Hacker News peers : This is a one reason why I decided not to live in the SF/Bay area. So many people so like me that I felt pulled into all the in-person kind of stuff. I feel more productive & more balanced when living in

The article and the Oatmeal comic seem to apply to people you don't like much - people you don't really want to talk with by any means. I also bristle at business calls, or calls from anyone I don't adore. But because I'm an introvert, I

Love it. I wanted to do this in Singapore. There are lots of co-working spaces but they're all so damn social, and what I really want is solitude. I thought it'd be great to make a co-working space called "Solitude" with lots of little 1-pe

It was understood with the family that I was doing the conversion “in name only”. It made it possible for my wife's family to give her a proper Muslim wedding, which made the Indian relatives happy. No beliefs were changed that day. ☺

Yes! Thank you Guibog for an important point. I mentioned the quick and visible events, for the sake of story-telling, but the stuff you're talking about is deeper, more powerful, and harder to talk about.
