It’s not a mayday situation as there isn’t any immediate danger for a single failed engine. The captain should have used the phrase ‘pan-pan’, which indicates an urgent situation but no immediate danger to life or aircraft. Also squawk 7700

Your ‘counter example’ is exactly what we want to happen. It’s not that they’ve added sesame where there was none before, it’s that they’re having to declare that sesame might be there. It’s great news for people with sesame allergies and h

I was going to go on a rant about how smart isn't useful unless it's easier than not-smart - my lights are either on a motion sensor, timer or based on device usage so we never actually need to do anything with them. The bedroom,

That's a pretty typical design for power supplies. Transformers output depends on the mains input. Where I am this is nominally 230V, but in reality ranges from 235-245V. So they often use a linear regulator to obtain the required volt

My city has replaced all the meters with pay-by-plate, either through the city’s app or using kerb-side pay stations that accept cash and cards. It works well, and enforcement can be done by plate recognition. It’s more convenient for users

And C# can do that with static typing via LINQ, which is really nice honestly. It’s a bit different but it would be something like: var result = await (from c in Customer where c.orders.sum(o => o.price) > 1000 select c).ToListAsy

That's due to old-fashioned plumbing. Wayyy back in the day when water networks were fairly new they often couldn't provide the water pressure we have now, especially in hilly areas. It was fine for cold water, but not enough to p

This is a very good point - AWS uses tags to give instances a friendly name, so the name does not have to be unique. The same logic would not fail on AWS.
