Can I seriously ask. how does anyone go about buying a piece of Spyware from the least trusted company in the world? To me it's like buying health and fitness advices from a liquor or cigarette brand.

I had to get a head MRI this year as well through insurance. They billed 2500$ that all went towards my deductible. In the past without insurance I was able to negotiate down a spine MRI from 2000$ to 500$ if I paid on the spot. Do with tha

What are the weighted chances of that happening though? Do you also account for the chance that you might die everytime you take your car? Or that a meteor might hit you next time you take a walk? At some point we need to be ok with some le

A lot of people wouldn't know what to do without a job. Always going for more $$ is a way to save yourself from having to discover what you really want to do with your life.

how much have you been saving so far? I talk to a lot of people that saved 10M$ and still feel this is not even close to enough.

You could live anywhere. Just need to budget for it. Obviously living in Williamsburg is going to be a different than living in Houston.

It really depends. I went without insurance for a couple years. I was able to bring every single price with the provider directly. As soon as I told them I wanted to pay cash in advance they had discount and other incentives. In the end I p

Most people at Meta (or other FAANGs) are caught up in the game. I have witnessed this first hand in the bay area. They forgot what the end-goal is. They are just on the hamster wheel waiting for the next vest or next promo so they can brag

One of my good friend "Metamate" argument is that "if he doesn't do it, another engineer will do it. Might as well take the money". But at least they all seem to acknowledge it is a terrible company and they know th

But if you work in tech your rent barely makes a difference? If you are a senior engineer and make 350k$/year (Meta is more like 500k$/year) and you pay 5000$/month for rent and could potentially pay 2500$/month instead

I have had that discussion multiple times with people. They all seem to think you absolutely need to live in a 5 bedroom 5m$ house in Palo Alto (because how else are you going to live?). But if you rent a normal 2BR for 4000$ in the Bay are

Agree with you. Americans have been brainwashed in thinking they absolutely need a 3000 sqft house, 2 SUVs and pay for the absolute best private schools for kids. It's the ultimate rat race. As someone that has lived in both Europe and

All projections currently show it is better to pay rent on an apartment than buying the similar apartment. Especially in tech cities. Do the math. I agree the ideal thing to do is to probably rent a cheaper apartment to start with.

Have seen that as well. Kids is the convenient excuse to go spending. Marketers have well understood that for multiple decades. Meanwhile I would bet there is an inverse correlation between spending for the kids and kids happiness.
