It actually seems pretty effective in this case. This uBlock Origin issue has been open for half a year and none of the default lists block the ads: https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/issues/3367

Can't adtech companies associate that cookie with the category and build a profile over multiple pages? Then they can correlate the data and identifiers Google provides to any that they collect on their own (e.g. their own pixels serve

The ads might not track you, but you might be tracked when downloading the podcast and the included ads might be personalized. I've noticed that the ads in certain podcasts are completely different when downloaded from a different loca

Confusingly, you can statically link a dynamic library (i.e. the dynamic library includes all its dependencies statically instead of recursively depending on more dynamic libraries). You can even link it in such a way that the dynamic libra

Lincoln Labs is an R&D facility dedicated to military technology. It doesn't really make sense to compare their funding composition to facilities without similar purpose.

This could just mean pseudoanonymization. I.e. they staple you medical information to your IP, a cookie, or an advertising ID. A buyer can deanonymize that kind of data in many cases.

Without fsync, the dirty page can sit in RAM and not even be sent to the disk, so a battery backup for the disk wouldn't solve data loss.

There are requirements beyond that including that it's unrelated to anything your employer does. If you work at Google or a similarly broad tech giant, unfortunately that means they probably own the IP of almost anything you could do d

I think the question being asked is why dont they just break EU law if they dont have a physical presence there (i.e. their assets can't be siezed, and they can't be arrested).

It sounds like they own the copyright and are dual licensing. However they don't accept contributions (without a copyright assignment) since they wouldn't be able to dual license the contribution.

Regardless of the whatever the GDPR actually says and even if ML is a complete black box, I would be very happy at least knowing my input features to ML algorithms. e.g. If I'm denied a loan, I want to learn the various "facts&quo

The cigar seller sells its customer list to a data broker or uses a third party service that does the same (e.g. it uses your email address as a user identifier in a third party analytics product). Then advertisers buy that data.
