Your posts about bitcoin prompted me to deep dive with it. I read the white paper a few times. I setup a node on one of my machines. I wrote some code to fetch a block template from my local nodes RPC service and generate some block generat

I don’t understand why miners wouldn’t include all pending transactions in their block. Seeing as how pow is a guessing game, there are plenty of permutations of the Merkle tree to generate plenty of roots. I guess to dissencentivize free l

I’m not sure that is the goal. Having cheap and small atomic clocks simplifies time sensitive applications that can’t always rely on satellites or ntp. Clock synchronization is currently not a solved problem for the masses.

I really hope windows runs on linux some day. I've always liked the windows shell. This might seem out of place on this post, but I get the sense that MS is putting more effort into linux.

Go hiking. I do this a few times a week to get away from the desk. I still end up thinking the entire time, but my thoughts are much more positive. I end the hike feeling refreshed and happy every time.

I am trying to confirm that cox does this with google. The cert is funky and doesn't match what I see from other connections. All hosts from nslookup are cox hosts, etc.

I'm not familiar with the physics of memristors or storage in general. I was wondering if a single line is used to read and write, increasing the voltage on write to change the state.

Do memristors read or write based on the applied voltage? I noticed that in some of the intel marketing material.

On the infographic the subtext of "1000x faster" is "up to 100s of times faster than NAND" Then it mentions 10x more performance with a PCIe/NVMe interface. Still all good things, but 1000x is probably more marketin

UniFi is likely a better solution if you are technically inclined. For most people, getting the controller up and running is too complicated. UBNT targets enterprise after all.

I'm somewhat intrigued by the HAT spec and how the daughter card provides the OS a device tree fragment. Can you comment on the pains/gains from conforming to it?

In terms of the specs, the Edison is great. After tinkering around with it for a bit I found I didn't really like the bundled software Intel released with it. At the end of the day I want something just like this, but with a net-insta

I don't think this will replace your big screen(s) setup any time soon. That said, think about the mobility of a setup like this. Your psuedo-physical dev environment can move with you. I don't know if that's a good thing

Wireshark is a good tool for inspecting 802.11 frames, but it's still a pain. If you do go down this path, I highly recommend adding a capture filter for your adapters MAC, so you don't get flooded with management frames. Filter
