Tesco ask you to log on with "character 2 and 4 from your password" which sort of implies they must store the password in clear text (unless some kind of zeroknowledge/homomorphic encryption magic i've not heard of.)

Disclaimer: I work at Mondo and am the one implementing the way we talk to our agency bank. How it actually works is theres a Message Queue (IBM MQ) that is connected over dedicated lines (MPLS or point to point, but not over the internet).

Btw, Tags are gone, but you've got full text search on the description so you can still annotate your transactions. Just add #ripoff to the description and extract the data later.
