This is just stupid. I haven't bought the book, I haven't read it (I don't know pydanny personally), but I teach Python and Django courses. My Django courseware has several shoutouts to best practices I got from pydanny, uses crispy-forms o

If you're interested: I wrote an extended follow-up to the 1.4 tutorial that is a bit more real-world: using South for migrations, bootstrap templates, learning to use the forms library, adding popular apps like debug-toolbar and so on, wri

I'm just a beginning hang glider pilot - but everybody at the largest national hang gliding site ( http://hanggliding.org ) calls fake. The main clue from a hang glider's perspective is that the wings absolutely don't look loaded. Assuming

I was in the Data analysis with Pandas talk and it was scary cool. Everybody in the sci-py community seems to be using the IPython web notebook to do their presentations and Wes had us work through examples in our own notebooks. I still hav

Actually I had dinner with Graham Dumpleton (mod_wsgi author) recently when he was in the San Francisco and he was speculating about the benefits of having nginx handle all the requests and proxy the django requests to Apache. In this case

Thanks for the downvotes! How can you simultaneously acknowledge that I'm being sarcastic and claim I don't understand what I'm ridiculing because I'm not defining it correctly? Of course that's not what the hagiographer meant by "moral aut

Come on - how can you ignore a guy who "combines moral autonomy with rigorous scholarship"! Moral autonomy - I think that means nobody can make him do the right thing?

My county (Stanislaus) is mostly rural but includes Modesto and Turlock (home of CSU Stanislaus). With a population of 1/2 a million we have unemployment rate of 18.9%. Directly north is San Joaquin County with Stockton as its largest city.

My daughter (5 years old) loves this. Of course sometimes she ends up with one solid block of lit blocks and I unwedge it for her - but she plays with it for 20 minutes at a time. Right up there with "hot games for girls"!

Yes - to the extent that fabric is just a framework for building shell deployment commands and could run the shell command. I think there's a lot of (forgive me) synergy from pairing pip, virtualenv and fabric together though: pip can easil

Well - yes I can see the need for specialised training when dealing with a lot of kids with a diversity of abilities, disabilities, cognitive levels, etc. And faced with a roomful (30+ kids) - yeah that's a challenge. What about 1 kid thoug
