I'd love to hear your thoughts about Interstate ( http://interstateapp.com ) - if you have the time. From your comment I think you'd like it.

They definitely usually check if the app works as intended or not or at least they do for the Mac App Store.

The bulk of it was caused by the fact we had an element which was only visible on-hover (a drop-down sign in menu) and within that element was an unclosed <label> tag. Because the label was unclosed, the rest of the page was being t

Yeah, unfortunately we were using an early open-source project to handle the real-time aspect of Prompt and when we needed to upgrade socket.io (one of the project's dependencies) to support the newer Web Socket protocol, it broke the app.

The post is simply to offer a behind-the-scenes look at our app and to see the shiny technologies we're using.

Wow - that shouldn't be happening, thanks for letting us know. I'll take a look in to it now. Edit: Fixed, there was a silly HTML error introduced in a recent commit which only Opera didn't like. Sorry about that.

A lot of the caching we're doing is just plain key/value and so it was easier to just increase our usage of Memcached (we were already using Memcached at the time). If we need to store more complex structures in memory (e.g. lists) then Red

Absolutely not. I was forced to use Jira at a previous job which actually made me actually quit my job and start building my own project management app (which took part in YCS11)!

I know that I (and most, if not all of my startup friends back in the UK) would have definitely attended a YC event in London.

We (BakedCode) built http://prompt.im a few months back as a bit of fun (took us about 1-2 days to build) which sounds like what you're after. Here's an example: http://prompt.im/hackernews

We (BakedCode - YCS11) launched Interstate which is a project management tool that provides a way for businesses and developers alike to plan and share their development progress.

The majority of Interstate (YCS11) is PHP and our codebase is well structured and the code is pretty. PHP is a fine language if you write code properly.

I use it when I need to speak with my parents (them being in the UK and me in US). Skype is a bit over the top for them so Facetime works great.

Haha, sorry if the title mislead you. We didn't pick it ourselves although it does fit in with our whole 'Interstate' brand and theme which is nice!

First of all, great to hear you're finding the app useful! We've somewhat surprisingly already heard stories regarding the opposite of users waiting to pay until a feature is added; where users have actually joined a site because they notic

I don't see too much resemblance myself and there was no conscious effort of mimicking their design but a lot of project management apps do look fairly similar, UX wise.
