I’m almost Dean’s age. My undergrad project was evolving NN with genetic algorithms. AI was popular, but funding died abruptly soon after.

Blockchain tech is still 10+ years from being practical. But it could be useful in developing countries with bad governments and endemic corruption. In the 1st world things work well enough.

i work at a big bank that still uses CVS for most of their software. They use SVN for "modern" projects, and only recently started dabbling in git. The place is a tech museum.

My brother is a biology researcher who uses Puthon scripts for DNA analysis. I recommended he hire a programmer for his group to setup the tools and write programs. Everyone should do what they do best Outsource the rest.

I'd like a portion of my equity to be shares of a Y-combinator fund. I can spread my comp risk across a batch of startups, just like a VC.

There often isn’t a good solution, only a bunch of “bad” solutions. Pointing out that they are bad is useless to everyone. GitHub wanted to be a successful independent company. That failed. What is the next least bad solution before bankrup

I have a super fancy combi-oven. It cooks some things nicely, but it doesn't speed up dinner overall. I enjoy cooking and spend a lot of time doing it. The benefit of this expensive oven is better baking, but it is definitely overkill.
